A MESSAGE FROM LOCOMOTIVE YOUTH SOCCER DIRECTOR, BOB BIGNEY

With the 2021 Fall Season in full swing, just wanted to say how proud Locomotive is with all our youth teams.  In just our third season of play; these teams, coaches, players and families have represented Locomotive FC in a first-class manner.

Locomotive now fields 12 Club Teams that play in a local El Paso League; 5 Academy Teams that compete in an Arizona League; and our first-ever team for girls. From April - September, Locomotive also formed a select team that played in the USL Academy League.

A total of 19 youth teams played under the Locomotive Youth Soccer umbrella this season.  Add to that our Lil’ Locos Program (for 5, 6 & 7 year old children), our Camps Program (250+ children attended our summer camps) and other activities in the community, and you see that there’s a lot happening with Locomotive Youth Soccer!

As you can imagine, all these activities keep the Locomotive Youth Soccer Office very busy.  A big thanks to our full-time youth soccer staff.  Omar Morin oversees the Academy Teams.  Michael Balogun manages all the Club Teams.  And Ana Guevara, our youth soccer administrator, helps with everything and does a great job of assisting families and answering questions about all things Locomotive.

And I have to mention the remarkable third season our Locomotive FC professional team is having!  We will be hosting a playoff game in El Paso on Friday, Nov 5.  The players, coaches and other staff on Locomotive FC have provided El Paso residents with exciting, top-level soccer matches at Southwest University Park and we wish them the best for a long post-season run.

One of the objectives of Locomotive FC, and the MountainStar Sports Group, is to improve the quality of life in the El Paso region.  Locomotive Youth Soccer recognizes that changes are needed to improve the youth soccer landscape in El Paso – and are working hard to bring about positive change.  Look for more exciting developments and opportunities for children in the Borderplex to be announced soon.

Congratulations on being a part of the Club – and I look forward to watching our Locomotive youth soccer teams on the field again soon.
