EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC Academy’s U15-19 Boys were on full display earlier this week at the US Youth Soccer National League’s Elite 64 Showcase in Mesa, Arizona, putting on impressive performances against top competition across the nation.

“This weekend was a very important step in our Academy’s history,” Academy Director Ivan Militar said. “This was the first time we traveled with all our high school aged teams to participate in a National Showcase. The team competed against quality opposition in front of college coaches from all over the country and we are excited for the exposure our players got.”

The E64 Showcase is a single competitive event that takes place alongside the National League’s top club-centric model, Elite 64. Teams in E64 face off against other like-minded clubs looking to provide players with elite competition to maximize their development and experience, as well as granting college coaches in attendance (more than 60 were present at the showcase in Mesa) a chance to scope and recruit emerging young talent.

Altogether, Locomotive put up a record of 8 wins, 2 losses and a single draw. The teams were successful on the field, playing mostly in the opposition’s half while maintaining high possession and pressing as quickly as possible to recover any lost balls.

“The platform created by the USYS Elite 64 National League has provided great opportunities for our players to develop and challenge themselves on a stage that they have not seen before,” Militar said. “Our families, players and coaches have represented our values, our club and our El Paso soccer community in an exceptional way and that makes me very proud!”
