EL PASO, Texas – Fall soccer is underway and El Paso Locomotive FC Youth Soccer is busier than ever, with Academy and Club teams earning hard-fought results across the region.
EL PASO LOCOMOTIVE FC USL ACADEMY
El Paso Locomotive FC U-20 continued its USL Academy season in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a two-match weekend against recent MLS Next Cup finalists Real Colorado.
Though Locomotive fell 4-2 in its first match, El Paso Locomotive FC came back stronger for the rematch the next day, overturning a 2-0 deficit to win the match 3-2.
Los Locos now sit third in the U-20 Mountain Division and will continue its fight for a spot in this USL Academy Cup this December.
EL PASO LOCOMOTIVE FC ACADEMY
El Paso Locomotive FC Academy had six of its teams travel to Dallas, Texas for the start of the 2023-24 Elite 64 National League season. 12 games were played in total across the six teams, with Locomotive bringing home nine wins, two draws and one loss.
“Elite 64 National League gamedays are always circled on our calendars,” Academy Director Ivan Militar said. “This was a weekend where we showed how talented our players are and how much we can do if we follow the values and cultural guidelines of our Academy community. Our boys performed on a very high level and represented our organization in a tremendous way, scoring 39 goals and conceding nine, showing that El Paso Locomotive FC Academy is one of the E64 National League’s top programs."
EL PASO LOCOMOTIVE FC CLUB SOCCER
El Paso Locomotive FC Club Soccer had nine club teams begin play in the local El Paso Premier League while seven others played first tournament of the fall – the Power Ford Rio Open in Albuquerque – and brought some silverware back home.
“Our teams competed incredibly in the Rio Open and the EPPL to kick off the fall season, and we are excited to see how our teams and players develop throughout the fall” Director of Youth Soccer and Programs Colin Herlinger said.
